Finding the right food for your cat doesn't have to mean imported brands only. Look for options with real fish or poultry listed as the first ingredient, and avoid products with excessive fillers or artificial colouring.
Fresh fish from local markets can supplement a cat's diet, but should always be cooked and deboned first — raw fish can carry parasites, and bones are a choking hazard.
Introduce any new food gradually over 5-7 days, mixing it with the current food, to avoid digestive upset.
